At the exhibition “Fragile,” all the artworks are screen printed on cardboard. Cardboard has a “character” that canvas doesn’t, bringing its own stamps, texture, foldings, and cuts. The cardboard also has two “sides”: the revealed, visible outside, and the other, hidden side that is meant to keep the object safe inside. On cardboard, the word “Fragile” is often written, a motif that appears in Gabby’s artworks. In this way, he anthropomorphizes the cardboard, bringing a sense of humanity to the viewers. These artworks deal with emotions and experience, and the combination of screen printing, images, and text on the cardboard creates an added value and a deeper meaning.
